Job Summary/Basic FunctionPosition is responsible for support and administration of campus technology resources through use of system management software with related duties including: administrative user management; device discovery maintenance; device collection management; application management; operating system deployment; and development and direction of user training and documentation. Responsible for formulating, managing, and defining global OS user policy at high level while maintaining proper consideration of OUs and associated rights and the resulting impact to technology resources.Position will be assigned project work related to IT Division and university initiatives as needed, including work on enterprise system changes, system implementations, in-depth research, and end user testing.Individual will provide second level hands-on and remote support for campus resources in a variety of areas, with tasks including but not limited to: devising procedures to solve complex problems; troubleshooting, testing, and implementing computer software; troubleshooting and supporting Windows and Mac machines; providing student lab support and configuration; administering user account configuration and creation; administering system access rights; providing web support; performing analysis of enterprise applications; supporting mobile devices; troubleshooting basic networking issues; and troubleshooting enterprise business reports.Individual will collaborate with campus technology professionals and departmental representatives on technology challenges, solutions, and changes. Individual will provide in-depth analysis of technology needs and solutions for campus, as needed.Individual is responsible for the formulation of training on current technology and related support issues to IT Service Desk staff as needed, and for formal and informal technical training to faculty and staff as needed. Individual may be tasked with performing work order follow up, training evaluation, and other duties as a team lead to IT Service Desk Technicians.Other duties and tasks as requested or assigned.
Required QualificationsBachelor’s Degree in a technology related field or related equivalent combination of education and related experience2 years of experience working in a technology related field with a high level of troubleshooting and hands‐on experience with experience in 3 or more of the following areas:Microsoft Active Directory or other user account management systemsGroup policy administration and user policy managementAdministration and development in Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager, JAMF, or other system management softwareOS image capture and deployment with working knowledge of OS directory structures and registriesScriptingWeb development with working knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavascriptNetworking conceptsAntivirus software and related troubleshooting and remediation techniquesProject management with a demonstrated ability to manage multiple
projects with little oversightITIL Foundations certification requiredPreference for one or more fundamental to intermediate level certifications selected from one of the categories listed below:Certifications related to WSU enterprise systems or technologies. Examples of eligible certifications include, but are not limited to:
▪ Microsoft Certified: Azure Fundamentals
▪ Google Workspace CertificationCertifications accepted as core for the IT support industry. Examples of eligible certifications include, but are not limited to:
▪ CompTia Security+
▪ CompTia A+
▪ ITIL Practitioner
▪ Project Management certificationsCertifications to develop or enhance role‐essential soft skills. Examples of eligible certifications include, but are not limited to:
▪ HDI Desktop Advanced Support Technician▪HDI Customer Experience Accelerator Bootcamp
Supervisor approval must be secured before certification will be considered to be eligible for grade requirements.
Preferred QualificationsHDI Support Center Analyst certificate and CompTIA A+ certificate are preferred.
