Chief Accountant / Management Accountant Job Description

Job Summary:

The Chief Accountant / Management Accountant is responsible for overseeing financial operations, ensuring accurate reporting, and providing strategic financial insights to support business decisions. This role involves budgeting, financial analysis, tax compliance, and internal controls to enhance financial efficiency and profitability.

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Management & Reporting:

  • Prepare and analyze financial statements, balance sheets, and profit & loss accounts.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards, tax regulations, and company policies.
  • Oversee general ledger accounts, reconciliations, and month-end/year-end closing.
  • Monitor cash flow, expenses, and revenue forecasts.

Budgeting & Cost Control:

  • Develop and manage annual budgets, financial forecasts, and variance analysis.
  • Analyze cost structures and recommend strategies for cost reduction.
  • Assist in financial planning and risk management.

Tax & Compliance:

  • Ensure timely and accurate tax filings (VAT, corporate tax, payroll tax, etc.).
  • Liaise with auditors, tax authorities, and regulatory bodies.
  • Maintain compliance with internal controls, financial policies, and legal requirements.

Strategic Financial Insights:

  • Provide financial analysis to support decision-making and business growth strategies.
  • Evaluate financial performance and suggest improvements in profitability and efficiency.
  • Collaborate with department heads on financial planning and investments.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • CPA, ACCA, or equivalent professional certification.
  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in accounting and financial management.
  • Strong knowledge of financial reporting, taxation, and budgeting.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems, financial software, and Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
