National Police Service Commission (NPSC)

The National Police Service Commission (NPSC) is a constitutional body in Kenya responsible for overseeing and managing the National Police Service (NPS). Established by the Constitution of Kenya 2010, the NPSC plays a critical role in ensuring that the police force is efficient, accountable, and responsive to the needs of the public. It is tasked with recruiting, promoting, and disciplining police officers, as well as setting policies for the police force. The Commission also ensures that the police adhere to human rights standards and operate within the framework of the law.

The NPSC is made up of a chairperson and several members who are appointed by the President with approval from the National Assembly. It is independent of the government and any other public institutions, thus safeguarding its impartiality.
