About Nyeri County

Nyeri County is located in the central region of Kenya, approximately 150 kilometers north of Nairobi. It is known for its rich agricultural economy, with tea and coffee farming being major contributors. The county is also famous for its dairy farming and vibrant fresh produce markets.

Nyeri is home to the Aberdare Range and part of Mount Kenya, making it a key destination for nature lovers and hikers. It hosts various wildlife species in Aberdare National Park, including elephants, buffalos, and rare bongos.

Historically, Nyeri was a key base for British colonial rule and the Mau Mau uprising. It is also the burial site of Lord Baden-Powell, founder of the Scout Movement.

The county’s capital, Nyeri town, serves as a commercial and administrative hub. Nyeri is also known for its high literacy rates and prestigious schools, including Dedan Kimathi University of Technology.
