Job Description
As a Regional Human Resources Manager you will play a key role in managing and coordinating HR and administrative functions across multiple locations, specifically supporting the offices in Kenya and South Africa. You will be responsible for ensuring the smooth execution of recruitment, on boarding, employee relations, compliance, payroll coordination, and policy implementation in alignment with regional and headquarters directives.
Key Responsibilities
- Recruitment, Onboarding & Induction: Lead the full recruitment process, including manpower planning, job postings, sourcing candidates, CV screening, interviewing, offer management, and new employee on boarding. Coordinate induction programs to ensure smooth integration and orientation for new hires.
- HR Policy Implementation & Compliance: Adapt and implement regional and headquarters HR policies locally, ensuring compliance with labor laws and regulations in both South Africa and Kenya. Maintain updated HR documentation, communicate policy changes effectively, and ensure consistent application across offices.
- HR Business Partnering: Provide expert advice and support to unit heads and line managers on performance management, employee relations, conflict resolution, and workforce planning. Act as a trusted HR advisor to help foster a productive, engaged workforce.
- Employee Relations, Learning & Development: Drive employee relations initiatives by addressing workplace concerns proactively and supporting conflict resolution. Plan, coordinate, and implement learning and development programs in partnership with regional teams. Promote employee engagement and wellness activities to enhance workplace culture and retention.
- Payroll & Vendor Coordination: Serve as the primary liaison with local payroll vendors to guarantee accurate and timely salary processing. Oversee benefits administration, resolve payroll queries, and collaborate with finance for payroll audits and reconciliations.
- HR Reporting & Analytics: Prepare, compile, and submit regular and ad-hoc HR reports including headcount, turnover, recruitment metrics, and training participation. Maintain data integrity within HR information systems and provide data analysis to support strategic decision-making.
- Regional Coordination & Cross-Country Collaboration: Coordinate HR activities between Kenya and South Africa offices to ensure alignment and consistency. Liaise regularly with headquarters and regional HR teams, facilitating communication and best practice sharing. Undertake quarterly travel between offices to provide on-site support, training, and strengthen relationships.
- HR Projects & Change Management: Lead or participate in HR projects related to process improvements, digital transformation, organisational change, and culture development. Support change management initiatives, ensuring smooth implementation and adoption of new systems or policies.
- Administrative Oversight: Oversee general HR administrative functions, ensuring efficient office management and compliance with organisational standards. Manage vendor contracts related to HR services and contribute to budgeting and resource planning for HR activities.
The Successful Applicant
- The ideal candidate Regional Human Resources Manager:
- Must be based either in Johannesburg or Kenya.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Studies, Human Resources Management, or a related field
- Minimum 5 years of recruitment experience, ideally in large or multinational organisations
- Experience handling cross-border or overseas HR matters is an added advantage
- Proficient in MS Office applications (Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
- Comfortable in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and continuously seeks improvement
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Positive, collaborative team player with the ability to influence others
- Fluent in English and Putonghua (Mandarin) – mandatory
- Willing to travel quarterly between South Africa and Kenya
